General Maintenance Worker -Full Time
Hiring Range: $20.07/hr. - $24.58/hr.

The General Maintenance Worker maintains buildings, vehicles and equipment in good operating order and to ensure that all grounds are kept in a presentable manner at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and perform all tasks and repairs efficiently and with minimum supervision, completing these assignments on time and within budget.
  • Perform facilities repairs, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, sheetrock, roofing, glazing, locks, landscaping, and minor electrical work as needed.
  • Perform equipment repairs, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including routine and scheduled service procedures on commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
  • Maintain logs and records including keeping fire logs and other essential maintenance and repair paperwork updated and organized as required by the state, county, or local authorities.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance, including safety inspections, scheduling routine maintenance, and keeping vehicles clean and operating well.
  • Identify, order, and maintain supplies, replacement parts, and tools needed to repair or service all commercial and residential facilities, equipment, and building systems.
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment. Maintain all applicable Material Safety Data Sheets and follow all chemical or pesticide labeling, mixing, and use instructions and regulations.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call emergency services when assigned.
  • Assist in performing custodial duties when assigned, including hard floor and carpet care.
  • Promptly report to the Facilities Supervisor any and all damage to agency facilities and/or equipment, suspicious activity, security risks, or safety hazards.

Minimum Qualifications:


Experienced (minimum of 2

years of job-related experience)

Two years of commercial building maintenance experience

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation



Intermediate (minimum of 3

years of job-related experience)

Experience in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and carpentry.

Mental/Physical Requirements:


  • The ability to function indoors in an office environment and outdoors engaged in physically active work.
  • Ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and bend, stoop, climb, and perform inspections.
  • The ability to wear various protective equipment, work in areas with extreme temperature variation, and work in cramped or uneven spaces.
  • Visual acuity to observe work sites, and read written materials, blueprints, plans, and schematics.
  • Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including projecting voice in noisy work settings.
  • May require the ability to lift from the floor, waist, or overhead objects up to 75 pounds occasionally.
