Facilities Mechanic - HVAC

General Summary of Duties: The Facilities Mechanic will service and repair all commercial building equipment and systems owned by Kitsap Mental Health Services.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:
  • Work independently and perform all tasks and repairs in an efficient and organized manner with minimum supervision, completing these assignments on time and within budget.
  • Perform routine, preventive maintenance on heating and cooling systems and equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Make entries on work orders and submit purchase orders for materials to be ordered.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend written instructions, procedures, and service manuals.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, or replace appliances
  • Replace and test minor electrical equipment and circuits.
  • Maintain some Life Safety equipment and systems. Document work on these systems and can retrieve this information upon request.
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings as necessary. Must be able to participate in a department rotational on-call schedule. May need to work emergency weather events.
  • Must comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
  • Service, maintenance, and water treatment of all cooling towers.
  • Maintenance / Repair of all piping associated with heating and cooling.
  • Maintenance, repair, calibration of automatic temperature controls and digital controls.
  • Recover / Recycling of refrigerants.
  • Respond to occupant concerns on heating, cooling, and ventilation issues.
  • Document all results of equipment testing and service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)

Maintenance and remodeling of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation

Three years of experience in HVAC, heat pump maintenance, refrigeration, and general building maintenance in a commercial or institutional setting is required.

CERTIFICATION: EPA certification required

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)

Vocational training in refrigeration and mechanical equipment.

CERTIFICATION: Certification in AC/Refrigeration, Boiler, and mechanical engineering
